Demet Yıldız received her B.A. in Economics and Management from Beloit College, Wisconsin, followed by a graduate degree at the Sabancı University. Her first M.A was from the Department of Visual Arts & Visual Communication Design, where she investigated the dichotomy of different housing tenure types in Istanbul with a metaphorical photography book and thesis; she completed her second M.A. in Cultural Studies with a thesis that focused on subjectivity construction at multi-nationals based in Turkey. Yıldız taught Modern Art courses at the Sabancı University and continued her career in contemporary art working as a Project Coordinator for the 12th and 13th Istanbul Biennials upon completing her education. Demet Yıldız is the Photography Department Manager at the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art where she has been working since 2015.
