Mark Peterson
Political Theatre
Last Year during the government shut down and the political cliff I started to
photograph the events surround this landscape. I went to Tea Party staged
rallies on the US Capitol lawn, campaign rallies for candidates opposing the
start of the Affordable Care Act, Million Vet Marches to the White House and a
Renew America rally where the participates were going to stay in the park
across from the White House till President Obama resigned. The first rally I
shot was a Tea Party Rally against as they called it ObamaCare. There were
the Usual Suspects of Senators and Congressmen who would come out of
the Capitol Building and make speeches full of rhetoric and vile about the end
of this country because of the Affordable Care Act. When I looked at my
photos they didn’t seem to capture the Political Theatre these events were.
So I decided to try and make them more like the Theatre of these events and I
ran them thru my IPhone processing my DSLR images in several IPhone
apps. I want the pictures to have the same look and cartoonish drama that the
Politicians are imagining.
